]]>Cheyenne has a T-3 habitat walkable to its downtown. This block is close to the Capitol. It has typical T-3 features: detached dwelling with rear outbuilding, deep setback from the street, "common yard" frontage, narrow sidewalk, narrow driveway, and plenty of trees.

]]>The impressive brick and granite Hibbing High School, built in 1920, terminates this block. Bob Dylan (née Zimmerman) went to school there, Class of 1959. This photograph depicts both Common Yard and Porch & Fence frontages. Common Yard is typically American. The unimpeded view down a block of connected lawns evokes, in a small way, the endless Western vistas we romanticize.

]]>Although "Chicago" is included as a keyword, Oak Park is a separate city adjacent to Chicago. The T-3 Sub-Urban Zone is outstanding and includes many famous Frank Lloyd Wright houses. Note the very narrow lots; yet the property values are high. This block is walkable to T4, T5, T6, and transit.

Private houses in this city are commonly gated, while streets remain public. However, when the house is set back behind a wall, as this one is, there are no eyes on the street. ]]>This is a good example of a driveway that fits in well with the frontage, using a "Hollywood strip" grass median for added natural drainage and good looks. The garage is in the back lot layer. Many pre-war houses have garages set back in this way, and can have accessory apartments or offices above them if zoning allows.

]]>This is a local T3 relative to the other habitats within walking distance of this Saratoga block. In some places, this frontage might be part of a T4 zone, as it is more urban than some T3 zones. (Compare to Hibbing, Minnesota T3.) The porch is quite close to the sidewalk. But the habitat is sub-urban within the local transect.
